    2002 Seadoo GTX 4tec, 165 hrs, opinions?

Looking at a 2002 Seadoo GTX 4tec, 165 hours, just serviced with plugs and oil. Comes with a double trailer, new bearings and winches. Seems like a good price at $2400. What issues or concerns are there on this year?

At that price, I'd have no concerns.....Might want to check for metal washers. Not sure if that was an issue in 2002.

Look for good compression and a pump with clean oil/grease.

There were a couple of other issues with the 2002 4-TEC's. They had a lot of issues with the first ECU's, part number is 664130. It used a crazy-ass DESS amplifier that really wasn't needed, and worked OK without it. See if the ski still have that ECU, or was upgraded to the 664131 or better yet 664133 which is still in production, and removal of the DESS amplifier at the same time. Many of them were upgraded already over the years.

The second issue I am aware of is poor quality crankshafts, had a rash of bad ones that broke. Not much you can do about it now and I wouldn't worry about it as it probably would have broken by now if you had one of the bad ones.

My buddy had one for a while. Aside from being the most boring ski I've ever ridden, it was rock solid.
