    South Amboy Launch

Anybody use this ramp at all? The last time I looked into this was about 5 years ago and you couldn't go in or out at low tide. Since then they've built new condos and put in a waterfront walk/park. I think they also dredged it when they put in the ramp. Cell phone pictures don't do it justice as the ramp is paved and nice. The parking lot is gravel/sand but really bumpy.Click image for larger version.

Never launched there, but helped a fellow boater out and towed him there. It was low tide and I couldn't get to the dock with my boat (mud), had to cut him loose. That was about 3-4 years ago.

I guess they didn't dredge it good enough!

Its totally not passable now due to sandy. If a bunch of guys went there and shoveled out the sand, it might be passable. The keyport ramp is good.

STAY AWAY from SA RAMP!! go to Sayreville even before that bitch sandy Amboy sucked I've gotten stuck waiting for the tides a few times and when you walk your ski in the mud is dark black sh1t mud that you sink up to you knees sayreville charges but it's a decent ramp and you get to blast through the flat river water to get to the bay it's only like 5 minutes up river from amboy but worth it.

I hear you, I had heard that years ago when I first looked into that ramp. The only reason I originally posted this is that the ramp was re-done and thought it might be better. The picture jetdave56 posted taken at low tide shows that.

Sayreville can go pound ...., they obviously don't want skis there as they charge more for a ski than a boat! We bought passes for Donaldson this year, not a bad deal. Boyd Park has a nice new ramp but it only has 4 trailer parking spaces and the locals take them up as regular parking spaces.
