Who has the most problem free hours on an SHO motor?
First of all, if this thread exists already, I couldn't find it. But to the point; who has the most hours on an SHO motor?
I have a 2011 FZS with over 180 hours on it, and I have owned it since new. I do all the routine maintainence as spelled out in my manual, and have had zero mechanical issues to date. I did have my waterbox baffles break but this was covered under warranty. I am sure now that I have made this thread I will blow my supercharger though!
I want to know who else is out there with near 200 hours on one of these engines without a problem. I ride in brackish water, and im not overly abusive but I certainly like the throttle! It still pulls like day one and starts like day one. In fact nothing about it has changed, except that the engine had a strange stalling if you work the throttle just right, but the dealer deemed that it was normal.
I hope everybody else has been this lucky! My early thoughts about this machine were not so great because I was concerned about a horible rattle which I mentioned was actually the waterbox, and ended up making it run funny as well. I can no disregard those early thoughts, and realize that this is a great machine! I don't miss two strokes one bit... even though I bought one for my girlfriend!

we have a SHO with over 230hrs and it is modded with 12 pounds of boost @ 8600 rpms, and like you said it starts like day 1 and runs like day 1, no issues with it other than fouled old plugs and had to replace a battery.

Re: Who has the most problem free hours on an SHO motor?
Wow! That means mine has hardly broken in yet! good news though. I will probably not modify mine unless I do a simple intake/exhaust setup, and a blowoff valve if it actually does prolong supercharger life.
From what I have heard the pumps are pretty solid on these. I was planning on putting a solas prop in and inspecting the wear ring this year. I already did an intake grate though.
Anybody have any driveline failures like the intermediate bearing? I thought I heard some hollow sound from mine while winterizing, I wonder how these hold up. They seemed to fail alot in the 2 strokes I had.

Actually I'm up to 357+ put on in 18 months. Has never been to the shop except for maintenance and bolt on mods. Very very happy with my ski.
Going back to your original post I ride mine like I stole it and it is used in salt water 90% of the time.
