Painting my 08' VX, Praying for the best!

I'm in the process of painting my 2008 VX110 Sport and I have already began Sanding down the hull and I already sanded and put two coats of Black Rustoleum Marine Top paint (Yes I know, I'm on a budget) on the bottom of the hull. I keep the waverunner on a lift so I have no need for a bottom paint.

On the top I'm going to use a Two-Part Polyurethane, Just a good gloss black. For the Cowling, hood, grab handle, splash guard, and any other non-Hull parts i'm going to use a Two-Part polyurethane Lamborghini Arancio Borealis, PPG Code 905385 (So its going to be gloss black and lambo orange)

So far im still getting the bottom done, going to wetsand it again tonight. The top still has a lot of prep work to get done. Should I just sand down to the Primer on the top? or completely down to the SMC? I'm going to spray a primer over it anyway before I lay down the paint. Since i'm still in high school I'm using this as an opportunity in my collision class to actually paint something of my own, instead of a shop car's hood.

Aside from that, performance wise, I Made a new CAI and relocated one of the vent hoses to "near" the intake so It can draw fresh air but not ingest water if any gets through. I took out the black exhaust resonator and replaced it with a 90 degree steel elbow. I cut the two outer bars off the intake grate and ground down the stubs. And I'm getting a solas 18/22 impeller (My stock impeller has slightly bent blades from a small rock getting sucked up and knocked around) but if anyone wants it i'm willing to sell. And last for now I removed the ribbon inside the intake manifold with a hammer and chisel and half an hour on a friday.

Looking good so far. When painting it is all about the prep work!

Just wetsanded it down a second time with 600 grit, wiped it down with mineral spirits, and applied a third coat. Once the bottom of the hull is done, It's time to get that top all prepped and ready

I was thinking about painting my kawasaki, ive never painted a jet ski before so i have no idea where to start. It is a stand up so i think ill start by taking the hand pole off and figuring out what kind of paint to use for each area but after that im pretty clueless as to what the next step would be.

    any helps appreciated

What do you want to paint? Whole ski or just the topside? Remove all bolt ons you can (rub rail, handle pole, dash, fuel neck, anything else on it) also decide on if you want to tape off and keep your stock mats or buy new mats.

Changed my mind, instead of the spies hecker lambo orange 3-stage, im going with duplicolor Candy Apple Red. Gonna mask her off tonight and spray my primer/silver base coat Tuesday. Time to get this project really started!

Sorry I haven't had time to get online, I havent painted the hull yet but i've been gettting work done with the plastics. Painted them black and added a holographic Red metal flake to front hatch and masked off a stripe that goes along with the front of the waverunner's hull and added metal flake to that. I used the method of spaying a coat of clear and sprinkling metal flake onto it and clearing over because I don't have a large enough tip size to spray the flake. I'll add pictures soon
