Mobil M1-108 oil filter
Incase anyone is interested, installed one yesterday and it fits like a glove and has a bypass valve-unlike the OEM Denso. The M1-110 is a bit longer. The 108 is the same dimension as the Denso whack-a-zaki 16097-0004.

Mobil M1-108 oil filter
You might want to make sure on what psi the bypass opens. This motor pushes allot of psi. You don't want it to open to early

•14 psi delta for the bypass, plenty high enough. The 1500 Jet Ski oil system operates just under 70 psig. Recommended filters specifically for this engine have a 14 psi bypass rating.
The M1-108 filter was 15 bucks slightly more than OEM and a very popular filter with the Kawasaki bike guys having the same spec’d OEM filter.
It might be actually beneficial to have a bypass during a cold start should the thick oil flow be initially reduced-I kinda doubt it but you never know. Ask yourself what pressure the low oil warning comes on at, and if you prefer dirty oil over no oil or dangerously reduced after filter oil pressure if the filter clogged up for some unexpected reason.
You guys know of any other better than OEM filters for this application? It's a filter who cares about the slightly increased cost.
What I don't get is how someone can make negative pricing comments and pointing cheapscape fingers when they don't have a clue.

dont have a clue hey? why post up there is a better filter out there when there is no proven fact that there is a problem with the oem one, each to there own i guess. all that matters is that you are happy with it

OEM has no bypass and the M1 filter media is better as filters out smaller particles. The modern trend is to steer away from cheap paper elements.

I have been running the K&N KN204 for a while and like it a lot. Plus with the socket end makes it so easy to replace.

I don't think Nic will approve but the K&N also has a bypass valve (unlike the OEM). They are a bit more expensive than the Mobil M1-108 though and I do like the nut, especially considering where the thing is located.
