UMI Steering on RXP
I wasn't too sure about it at first, but as the day went on it grew on me.
Now I love the look and feel of it. Steering is now slick as glass.
The ski has a better feel to it going thru turns if that makes any sense at all. It just puts you in a better riding position for turns i guess.
Bars could be just 1" higher though. I even used the Kawi bars which have 1" more rise than the offered Seadoo bars.
It was kind of a pain in the ass to install. Definatly order the UMI cable adjuster for the throttle cable. I didn't and ended up having to rob one off of my bike. I have one on order though as I was not quite able to get 100 % WOT adjustment from the cable.
The UMI system weighs 8.5 lbs complete with grips, etc. I will weight the stock system tomorrw to see any possible weight savings.
Oh, one other thing i like about it is the ability to lift the glove box lid way up for easy access.

it looks sick jerry! did the brackets for the lanyard & mode/set buttons come with the kit or did you fabricate them?

They come with the kit.
I like the way it looks too

How much did they end up setting you back?
10-24-2005, 07:31 PM #7
Thats looks awesome. Would it be better to do this or just get a riva finger throttle conversion?

Cost is 5 bills plus some change for everything
For rec riding the Riva handle bar extension/finger throttle can't be beat.

wow. Is that using the stock steering?

No, the UMI completely replaces the stock plastic stuff with nice shinny billet
