Kawasaki 250x Full Throttle (or very high RPM) at startup

    Hi guys,

Have just turned my 250x on for the first time in a few months (recharged the battery too), and when i hit the start button, I am greeted with the ski running at near full throttle - no matter what I do with the accelerator. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

    Appreciate your help,

    Sam

Is the throttle body pinned open by something?

    Agreed
Check your throttle body and be sure it is in the idle position. If not and you can not bring it back to idle position, disconnect your cable and see if it will release then. On that ski it is a single cable from the throttle to the TB.

    Hi guys,

Throttle body is in the idle position - have released tension by loosening screws to no avail. How do I actually disconnect the cable? Do I do this at the throttle body? Please excuse my lack of technical knowledge.

@FIRE0021 - would you recommend disabling the KSS by following this guide - http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20534 ?

    Cheers

Hmm that didn't seem to have an effect.

When I turn it on, i need to accelerate a little to get it going (thinking its idling too low?). I then take my finger off the accelerator and it goes straight to 3000 RPM. Then after about 2 seconds, jumps to around 6-7000 RPM.

Stumped! May have to take it into the dealer.

It's quite low on fuel (1 bar and beeping) if this would make any difference to the diagnosis?
