High pitch 'chain sound' around ~3500 rpm, anything to worry about?

    Hey gang,

Just throwing this one out there, is there something I should be worried about?

At around 3500 rpm, no matter what load, I get a high pitch 'chain' sound like you know the sound of roller door chain or something similar...

Ski runs fine apart from that....

    Mods are retainers/valve springs, prop 15/20, 80's inj, e85, et137 w/spacer, 4 inch intake....

What could cause such a sound?

I would check the SC first for signs of touchdown.

How many hrs on that charger?
also check the timing chain for any damage, and the flywheel for any chipped teeth.

never heard of noticed this noise have you removed the tappet cover and checked the chain guides and chain etc?... if all good pull the charger cover the hole in the pto and hold rpm at 3500 and see if the noise is gone with the charger not in?

Its quite high up in the hz, almost on the verge of out of hearing range....

Pretty subtle, but definitely sounds almost like chain being handled over itself.

Check the seams on the intake manifold for leaks.
