Question GP1200R Crusing Range On A Full Tank, Pump Tunnel Reinforcement

Has anyone tested the GP1200r cruising range on a full tank of gas? I know that wind and wave conditions can greatly influence these numbers, but is there a conservative estimate for the cruising range? I know that the ski can go 1.1hr at full throttle, but this isn't very realistic as I would like my motor to last longer than 1 day. Any tests on this? Also is there anyone who has any experience with GPR pump tunnel reinforcement using fiberglass or epoxies(without the fiberglass coco insert)? Is this possible to reinforce without the reinforcement insert?

    Thanks,

    EE

About 60 miles I would say. I have never really pushed it, I live on the water so I just go back to my house and fuel up. I'm sure you can get 80 miles out of a tank if you really baby it.

It's more realistic then you think. I spend probably 70% of my time at WOT, 25% at 5k plus and 5% at idle. They are made to run, you could baby it for ever and anything could happen at anytime. Then what? You spent all that time not using the ski to it's full potential/intended purpose. I ride mine like I stole it and my bone stock motor lasted 177 hrs untouched with a d plate and wave eaters. Ride it and enjoy it and do the must do mods, maintenance, keep it clean and you will be fine.

GP1200R Crusing Range On A Full Tank, Pump Tunnel Reinforcement

I filled ours up to the very top and rode it hard all day and only got down to half a tank. It seems like it goes from half to empty faster than it goes from full to half though.

Thats true because it take almost 25 to 30 miles until it comes off full.

I did my own reinforcement with carbon fiber because there were not ones like Coco's back then. When I did my son's GPR, I used Coco's prefab unit. I will tell you this, no way would I do a home done one again, so much easier with kit, looks better, and is super well made. Well worth it in my opinion, and I have done it both ways.

They prevent the power valves from dropping in to the cylinder when the pins fall out causing major damage. They are a must have, because sooner or later it will happen. Many people have have had motors destroyed this way. It's unfortunate because it's easy to avoid and it is cheap insurance.
