    Question Touch-Up Paint

    Hi Everyone.

I currently have a 2010 Yamaha VX Cruiser. It is the same as the one pictured below:

I am looking for some touch up paint for the ski as there are some minor paintwork damages on the ski which I would like to cover up. It's like this royal blue colour shown above. Does Yamaha supply the paint?

    Thanks In Advance.

    Simon

I would tend to think your Yamaha dealer can get it for you.

It would most likely be gel coat. You can get a small repair kit either at the dealer or West Marine. It is not the same as painting. You should look into it first. Youtube has some great vids on how too's for gel coat.

Maybe the newer ones, but the older ones are gel coat. In that case, refer to dealer for correct color and they should offer a small qty for scratch repair.

+1. The ski in the OP is painted. I've used color-rite touch up paint on my FZR and FX HO. It is ok.... the color didnt match perfect to be honest. But I also didnt sand the area or clear coat it, so that may be why.

Yes, VX's are painted. I've had trouble finding touchup for my FRS, went to a local auto paint supplier and they mixed me up a half pint for $19. I took my cowling in so they could put their machine on it and color match it. Looks really good. Easier and cheaper than an unknown internet order, I have heard of some unhappy matches with some of those.
