    4tec leakdown test

OK I need to do a leakdown test on my 2002 4tec. I have tried using the starter to turn the motor over just enough to close all valves but when I apply air it spins clockwise just a little and opens one of the valves. I removed the pump and tried turning the driveshaft by hand and it's not budging. Is there an easy way to turn the motor by hand? Is it bad that I can't turn it by hand? I read something about turning the pump with a 12mm hex wrench or something. Any help is appreciated!

If you lock the camshaft with #3 at TDC all valves will be shut. You can turn to motor with a 17mm socket in the supercharge or a 12mm allen wrench in the pump shaft behind the nose cone.

Dang so I have to take the cone off? Which means I'll have to refill it with pump oil? Is this correct? Also, it's the non SC'd motor so where do I lock it at? I know there's a locking tool but surely therer's something else I can use. Thanks for your help.

1/4" ratchet extension will do the job. There is a hole near the cam gear.

When I'm looking at it with the valve cover off theres a nice sized hole on the rearmost rocker toward the bottom. Is this the hole?

Yes it will align with a slot in the cam when #3 front cylinder is at TDC.

Awesome thanks. Sounds easier than taking that pump cone off. but I guess I'll still have to do that to turn the motor over haha. Oh well.
