Red face GP1200R, Who butchered my carbs. Never know what you're gonna get.

Bought my Y2K GP1200R ME about 4 years ago. Seller said he had done d-plate & chip and thats all. I ran it two seasons then burned up #3 cylinder. Get new block from SBT and rebuilt two of 3 carbs. Screws on one carb were all stripped so I couldn't rebuilt it. I should have b/c I burned up another engine. This time, I got
another SBT engine and am changing to RIVA/KN FA's, 1.5 N/S, 110 slow, 120 main, chokes in tact, Acc pump disabled, new low/high speed t-handle adjusters. While rebuilding the carbs (all 3 this time) I found:

Carb 1 front: 3 stripped cover plate screws, 2 stripped kidney screws, 1 stripped N/S holder screw, 1 stripped pop arm screw. Had to drill out all of them and get replacements from WFO. (Thanks!) Main jet 125, Low 110. 1.2 N/S. High speed adjuster 2.25 turns out w/spring, Low speed 0 turns out w/no spring. Tamper-proof caps in place. Cylinder was running rich originally.

Carb 2 middle: No stripped screws this time. Main jet 125, Low 110, 1.2 N/S. High speed adjuster .75 turns out w/spring. Low speed adjuster 0 turns out w/no spring. Tamper-proof caps in place. Cylinder was running good mix originally.

Carb 3 rear: No stripped screws, Main jet 125, Low 110, 1.2 N/S. High speed adjuster buried at 0 turns out and stripped head. Had to drill it out. No spring. Low speed adjuster 0 turns out w/spring. Tamper-proof caps in place. Cylinder was running lean originally and high speed adjuster may have been responsible for #3 meltdown.

I've successfully rebuilt all 3 carbs and have a 48psi pop-off on each using a 115gr. spring. Will be testing as soon as I can get things back together. Just goes to show, buying a used ski is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Correction, I am now using a 95 gm. spring (silver) and getting the 48-50 pop-off. The old springs were 115's.
