Congratulations to the DJSA 2012 Outlaw Series High Point Class and Divisional Racers

Single stand alone events are ok but I’ve always been more of a fan of point series racing, and based on all the hot racing you delivered this year I think it’s safe to say I always will be. If you miss a few races but manage to chalk up some good finishes you’re probably doing ok in points. If you didn’t score as high as you would have liked on race days but made it to all the races, you’re probably doing ok in points. Strategy plays an important part in points racing and the last few races of the season can often get downright sporty - and this year?? Things got downright sporty!!

Unlike the 2011 series where we faced some pretty adverse weather conditions, we started and ended this year under blue skies and mild temps in the 70’s, but considering the racing we saw I don’t think we’ve ever had a hotter season than this one. Simply put? You guys were amazing. 8 race days consisting of 222 heats, 400 laps of practice, and 1332 laps of pure outlaw point series racing. Add to that 6 junior time trial days with 53 of our kids facing the stopwatch, and sometimes each other with the introduction of match racing. All that race action and all without any serious incidents, no spectator incidents, and no medical calls. For that incredible record, I thank you all, but moreso for listening to me when I asked you to watch out for each other and not take each other out on the track…

590 points were possible in this year’s series, and 2 guys from both divisions managed to pull off “Jimmie Johnson repeats” achieving “Divisional High Point Championship Titles” for the 2nd year in a row… I am proud to introduce Doug “Karty” Wolff of the X-2 Army as your 2012 High Point Standup Divisional Champion with an amazing accumulation of 569 points, and the “master blaster” himself - Norm Yee of the Sport Sit 1200 expert GP class as your 2012 High Point Sitdown Divisional Champion. Stormin Norman made it look easy but he ripped it around a whole lot of buoys to rack up 487 well deserved series points this year…

In the next couple days, the complete 2012 final point standings will be posted at diablojsa.com so you can see where you finished in the mix, but since all you guys figure out the math way before I do - here are your top 5 high point racers by class. On behalf of the entire DJSA race staff, we congratulate the following racers for their high point achievements in the 2012 series.

It matters more to you guys than it does me where your name ends up on the list, but to me all of you are winners regardless of where you placed. It is only for that reason that djsa races continue, and I congratulate all of you on an awesome safe season of incredible pwc racing. I thank you all for giving me a front row seat to watch it happen, and I look forward to seeing you soon at the 2012 awards dinner in January. Enjoy the off season while you can… Season 8 will be here before you know it and rumor has it it’s going to be a busy one. I wish you and your families the warmest of holiday wishes and even though we’ll be in the off season, you guys are always in my thoughts.

    Sincerely from your biggest fan,
    Jim Lambert
