    Replacing PTO gasket

When applying a new PTO gasket, should the area that the gasket makes contact with be completely clean and oil free? Does the gasket just go down dry? Should the metal mating surfaces be prepped with anything?

Yes clean and dry. I like to use some hi-tac spray to help hold it in place.

Also if motor is on engine stand tilt the motor so pto is straight up in the air. Makes it alot easier getting everything lined up.

What do you use to clean the surfaces? I've been cleaning mine but I can still see a tiny bit of green residue here and there. Doesn't seem to be coming off any further.

I put it on dry but use 518 around water and oil ports and between the oil screen and gasket, I sleep a little better knowing

I used a green pad. Worked perfect.
