Thread: Floating docks

Anyone have experience with floating docks? I'm planning on putting a dock in sometime this spring and trying to get opinons on the different types. What I will eventually have is a dock for a 25' boat as well as 2 pwc docks to get the pwc up out of the water. I talked to someone today about the EZ dock and it looks like a decent system.

I bought a new dock 2 years ago. It is a 2 well 12x30 slips with a 12x12 pwc slip and swim platform. There are a lot of dock builders at the lake of the ozarks.

Most of my friends and I have the HydroPort (by HydroLift)... 19 of them, actually. The others opted for the SportPort... they are now selling them for the HydroPort.
But truth be known, I'd buy the EZ Port if I was doing it again. When we bought our HydroPorts, EZ Port didn't have the longer lifts (without adding a 2ft. retrofit extension piece) designed for 4-tec size craft. They now have a model that is one piece and is big enough for a Yahama SUV or Seadoo LRV... they also bill this as thier 4-tec hoist... the extra length couldn't hurt.
IMO, it is probably better than the HydroPort... but it cost hundreds more.
BTW... after four years, we have only had one problem with the 19 HydroPorts, and it was more a customer service issue than an equipment issue. So maybe spending the extra for an EZ Port is debatable
I would not get a SportPort if you have a 4-tec.
