What happens when you forget to ground your 1200 non-pv?

What are some things that can happen when you forget to connect the ground wire on a 1200 non-pv? I assume that one thing may be that it blows a fuse and stops running. What else could happen (and I'm sure it is much worse than a 5 cent fuse)?

ski will not start, If the circuit is not completed nothing will happen.

    Hmmm,

I installed the motor and ran it for about 4 hours before my middle cylinder fried (I think I know what did that). I don't think that the wire was touching anything during the 4 hours. Didn't know if running ungrounded could fry the computer or something else.

I'd have to agree with Jim, especially if your SUV is wired like my GP1200 with one big ground wire from the battery to the engine block. everything else grounds off the engine. There won't be anyway for the starter to crank or the cdi to work without the big ground wire.
Or are you talking about a different smaller ground wire somewhere?

Yes and sorry about the confusion. I guess I assume it is a grounding wire but it is not the big black rubber coated wire. It is a small thin black coated wire that comes from the front of the motor on one of the bolts that secure the flywheel cover and goes to the large stainless steel plate that goes across all 3 carbs on the 1200 non-pv.

That wire is to assure that the front cover is grounded properly as the electric control box gets its ground from the front cover. Running your ski without that wire connected shouldn't harm anything unless the cover looses ground from gasket or corrosion. If the cover did loose connection the ski would not start at all and if some how did start then it could damage electrical component.
