Just bought a 00 66V jet pump for my 01 GP1200R and the rod is approx 32 1/4" from the end of the cone to the tip of the shaft. It seems to be about 1 and 3/4" too long. the shaft on mine is about 1 3/4" shorter than the one I bought. From the front face of the housing to the end of the shaft it is about 26" . on mine its 24 1/4" whats really going on am I missing something, please help I am at a loss

You can swap the short shaft into your new pump or if you are looking to have 2 functioning pumps I have an extra short shaft I can hook you up with or trade.

Another option would be to install the 2 inch spacer between the transom plate and wear ring.

Will also need to extend the steering and trim cables.

The 2 inch spacer was added to the OEM pump in 03 I believe. It fits between the wear ring and transom plate. You can order it any where they sell OEM parts. Yes all transom plates are the same 00-08.

The spacer is a 2" thick section that goes between the transom plate and the pump. It helps with cavitation and hookup. You can get the cable extentions from OSide Bill. Your pump shaft probably came from a XLT 1200. They are longer but use a 66v pump.

Yes if you swap the mid shaft or add the 2" extension.
