Talking rapid's 4-TEC RXPL pump udgrade results

    WOW
another major leap forward on this project
the first stages of this project we were using a scat 12vein 148mm pump turnning a 16/24 pitch and 83mm ring. use to cavitate massivly off the line.
with the other mods i was able to turn 76mph at approx 8350rpm

this time around im useing a rxp pump and added a vortex SC imp...
surprizingly the RXP pump plugged right into the xpl shoe.
we hadda completly redo both driveshafts, berring supports and custom made billit PTO's. along with a few more "goodies" while i was in there..

anyway took it out saturday again
didn't have the GPS with me but the feeling and pull was amazing..
I think im well into the low 80's now with even more bottom pull then before.. ill have more solid numbers and result in the next few weeks.
im ordering a riva 3blade 15-18 or maybe a 19 tonight from the store.

    stay tuned

I feel the gprxp is a better high speed hull. The XPL get squirlly at about 75... and saturdays testing was even scarrier fast

This XPL ive owned since new.. bought it in 98 to race offshore racing. plus hundreds of hours of pure fun at travis... blew 13 motors over the years till i finally "upgraded to the 4tec"
anyway this boat is kinda priceless to me.

I can honestly say I feel there has never been a boat made that can carve and rip like that XPL hull. so smooth and sportbike like.
This project was about putting new life to a loved ski
Id be happy just to "keep up with the GPRXP's"

I loved my old 1997 XP even though it wasn't the fastest thing on the water. I can only imagine what I would think about a 80mph rxp powered one!

The ONLY drawback to an XPL IMO, is they are not fast enough. He obviously corrected that issue in a BIG way.

Highly doubtful. That 4-tec engine is really pasked in there isn't it? I mean, how easy is it to perform general maitenence on and modify?

Besides that, I heard there was a 300+HP 4-tec XPL out there, and I heard it beat the hell out of the rider...he couldn't finish the race or something??? I can't imagine a ski out there like that.

I also think these bigger hulls are helping to keep speeds down on stock craft.
