FX140 Valve Shims in upside down.

Re-assembled the head on my FX140, It has now done about 5hrs since re-assembly, Was reading threw the service manual and noticed it stated that the numbering on the shims goes towards the cam follower. I have them facing the valve.

Does it really mater?? is one side face hardened??

    it doesn't mater performance wise
but it will wear the numbers off
meaning you have to measure them to work out the size

Correct. That is the only reason.
