    Oil cooler / Heat exchanger

    What's the best one out there? What's tried and tested that you all recommend?

    Its a matter of how you do your water routing which will determine your plate size...What IC will you be running? Will the HX have its own line, or get water dump from the IC?

    I originally data logged my setup with a single 3/4 line and a 30 plate, with the HX getting fed after the IC and then dumping to the exhaust manifold....

    I have since changed the routing by putting a T after the strainer, sending a 3/4" line to the IC/HX and a 3/4" line to the exhaust manifold/waterbox...My engine temps stayed the same, my exhaust system is running cooler, and my waterbox is not filling up as much when idling around....

    Before my exhaust system as a whole would get hot from being fed hot water from the HX, and the waterbox would be really full after a long idle that I had to blip the throttle to clear it a few times before doing a hole shot...

    The HX now dumps to the water flush connection fitting on the pump shoe...

    He could almost get away with a 20 plate with that setup..You know my setup Danny as it is ran into a T fitting,then one line for the HX to the exhaust manny,and the other line to the IC and out the back....all this on a 20 plate with a 160 degree thermo...I have never seen engine temps never going over 175 degrees on this setup..

    Ha Ha Ha, I know which one you got your eye on ....

    You can run a 20 plate, the 160 thermo, and a T before the IC...a 20 or 30 would work just fine with that routing...

    Yea, thats why I switched mine up a little last year...Between the heat from the IC and HX, I didn't like that warm of water hitting the manifold. Then heating up and hitting the midpipe. It was just too dang hot for my liking. Now its luke warm to where I can easily touch it after a run...I saw 180 once during the heat we had on one day in July, after the old man and I hot dogged it back to the ramp for almost 2 miles

    I run a 30 HX.
    X T fitting after pump. Reduced side of T to ic- hx- pump transom.
    Other side of T to exhaust.
