    Thinking about getting a SL900

Found a pretty good deal on a SL900, but it is just far enough away that I need to be really sure of what I'm getting into before I get in the truck.

Not too sure of the year, but they think its a 98? Sounds like the fuel system is gummed up from sitting for a year or so and they just don't use it anymore.

So, from what I gather, aside from the normal fuel system stuff (lines, carbs, etc) the big thing on this model is having the updated ignition. I'm betting it has the original ignition, but you never know. Is it a sure thing that I'll need to do the update? Do they all go bad at some point? or do some run fine with original?

Errr... just got to this part of the Knowledge site:

The original domestic 1996-1999 ignition systems '...WILL fail eventually...'
So I guess that answers that question. Well what do you all think of this ski anyway? Seems like it would be pretty fun.

They only made the SL900 in 96 and 97. Ignition update is a must.

Compression test.....bring your own battery if you have too so u can spin it. You can rent a compression gauge (for free) at any of the big auto store chains

Check for spark and compression. If you decide to buy it be on the look out for an updated ignition, if you find a deal on one buy it just in case. If you never need it you can always sell it.
