    SHO motor mods

I'm new to the Yamaha 4 stroke engine so please bear with me. I'm used to the RXP platform. When we raise the rpm limit on the RXP motor you must upgrade the valve train. Why can the rpm limit be raised on the SHO motor without internal upgrades? Just how high can you raise the rpms without doing engine upgrades?

I ran my stock motor around 8800 with no problems and I have changed the valve springs and have been running it around 9,000 and do far so good. I know of a few people running around 9000 with just springs

Hello Jim on my SHO i am running 9000 rpm and a H1 wheel with stock internals. So far i have 160 hours and still going strong. But i know i am taking a chance if you run 8600-8700 you should be fine.

Thanks guys. I am running the E3 reflash with an ET low boost wheel. I believe it's an 8800 limit. Sounds like I should be safe.

One of the reasons I love the SHO platform is that you dont exactly have to rip in to the engine to get a fair bit more out of it.
