    RXT-X 08 Strange supercharger problem?

    Hi All,

    I have a 2008 RXT-X seadoo which has developed a strange problem,

When i run the ski for 30 seconds or more flat out, all of a sudden It loses power and the ski make a whistle noise (like a blow off valve on a turbo) comes back to idle or just above (still running), once i wait a second or so idling, I try and take off and everything is back to normal until i try going flat out again and after 10 seconds it does it again.

I can run around all day at 3/4 throttle without a problem and can go it squirts of full throttle in the surf with no problems, It's just on long full thottle runs that the problem is happening.

Nothing is coming up on the screen as far as errors goes. The has 187 Hours on it and is due for a supercharger rebuild soon.

Could it be the supercharger? or something else causing this??

187 hours its due at 100 has it been done?. Sounds like you might have either a boost leak or a sc problem in any event at that many hours I would not ride it any more till you have found the issue.

I think the 2008 RXT-X supercharger service is at 200 Hrs isn't it?? I think there is supposed to be a message that comes up on the display when it is due to be done..?

Thinking more about the problem, I did notice a grinding noise as the ski was slowing down when i was trying to take off again . once it came back to idle, i could take off again with do noise or problems...

Would the Supercharger act like that? ie runs ok at 3/4 throttle, and when full throttle after a ramdom amount of time with no warning just lose all power instantly and come back to idle then work fine again...??

Your supercharger should have been rebuilt by 100 hours. It is well over due.
However, I think your problem might be to do with your drive shaft splines disengaging with the impeller.

When you say "loses all power", do you mean it will still accelerate to say 5500 rpm? or it will rev up without going anywhere?

100 supercharger rebuild..First off if you have not rebuilt the supercharger yet at 187 stop tuck and roll pull the sc first and rebuild it now. While you are at it then pull the pump inspect your wear ring, impeller, driveshaft, hoses etc

could be a fuel pump problem or very dirty fuel filters

I checked with the previous owner and the supercharger was done at 100hrs, He said seadoo now have long life washers which last 200hrs between rebuilds, is that correct?

What i mean by saying it loses all power is that i can be going 70mph then its like pulling the engine kill switch, it just completely backs off to idle and makes a high pitch squeel, the engine runs, but it won't accelerate and makes a squeeling noise when i try to squeeze the throttle...once i stop for a couple of seconds all is back to normal...

Hi All, I have checked the Pump (taken off and all looks ok) I have the a new liner fitted by seadoo dealer recently also.

I just check the fuel tank breather and that is all good also...

What would the loud whisstle noise be when it cuts out at full throttle?

I can take off at full throttle not problems, it's just when it runs for more than 30 seconds....so pump should be ok...I'm competely stumped....
