2003 Seadoo GTX SC 4-TEC yay or nay

    Hello all,

I'm new to the PWC game and need everyones opinion on a new purchase im considering.

i currently own a beater, a 1995 Yamaha 700RT. its old and beat up and doesnt have much life left in it. I'm looking to upgrade and came across a 2003 Seadoo GTX SC 4-TEC with 200 hours on it (SC already done once at 100) in mint condition with an 03 trailer and cover for $4000. i talked him down to the $4000 mark he wont be going any lower then that. my only worries at the moment are that im from Ontario so its too cold for a water test and its already been Winterized. Also im a little worried on the hours on it.

any insight would be greatly appreciated as to whether i should go ahead with this deal.

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

For me personally, that is a little high for price. Hour wise, you figure the ski is almost 10 yrs old, so 200 hours averages out to be around 20 hours a year give or take, so that's not too bad. Keep in mind that the 2003 while supercharged is only 185 hp. If it were me, I would seriously look at spending another 500 bucks and finding a 04 or newer RXT with around 100 hours with the Ceramic washers already replaced on it. Good Luck!

If I were you I would wait and I'm sure you will come across something better.
Why buy if your not going to use it now,due to weather.
Have in mind that the old model skis have the valve failure problem so you would need to change those

I would pass on that one as well....you don't know what kind of shape the rest of the boat is in.....plus, that ski is nowhere near as quick as the RXT.....

I'd wait until you can test ride the ski you're going to buy. I bet you can find that same model with less hours for less money if you wait, and may be able t find a RXt for near the same. As far as buying a modified 4 stroke, I wouldnt recommend buying a moddified ski unless you fully understand the modifications done to it. Especially seeing that you'll most likely be the one working on it, the modifications tend to make it more difficult to work on because they wont be covered in the manual etc. thats just my .02
