wonder how many motors they lock up per season

those guys are crazy. I've seen sporadic videos of sleds on water, but never a watercross race of sleds. very cool

I used to ride water all the time in the summer. In iowa we dont get alot of snow, and their was times i'd put more miles on my sled in the summer from riding water and racing grass/asphalt drags.

Riding water is almost just like riding in deep mountain powder, but water gives a much larger rush!!

I've always loved the sleds running at Havasu but the whole race thing is bad ass!!
I hope they are using flow rites.

I don't understand the whole appeal. It is cool to see someone take something designed for one thing and use it for another, but a racing series? If you screw up, there goes alot of $$$. Kind of a waste. Also I hope the fuel and oil doesn't get released into the water if they sink one. Environmentalists will be watching this one closely I think. BD, they work because the skis up front (and rider's weight leaning back) keeps the nose up, and the track is much like a paddle wheel. Add some inertia and you get water sleds. I got to admit the turns are hard to explain.

Actually their usually is very little gas/oil leaked out when sunk (on the race sleds set-up for water) Chain case oils etc.. are required to all be biodegradeable.

When you get the suspension set-up correctly, the skis really have nothing to do with keeping the sled up. It's all in the rear suspension!

If you think about it, water has a more dense property to it than say powder snow! They are designed to be rode on snow, and alot of instances do alot better on water than snow

But like mentioned, dont stop or smoke a belt!!!
