96xp with R&D high compression head

I have started a thread in projects and don't get much response so I figured I would start a new one in two-strokes. N E way I installed a R&D head and I am getting 170 psi in each hole. I am wondering if I am gonna need to mix Racing fuel with premium? 170 is cold engine compression too. I am fairly new to greenhulk and look forward to meeting more enthusiasts and making new friends. Thanks in advance!!

I would think you would be ok with premium pump gas ASSUMING your compression gauge is accurate. What cc domes are those? I have run 43cc domes with no problems, but I am at altitude. I would check squish, though.

My gauge has been very accurate, it is a cheap harbor fr8 but works great!!! I will check the squish too.

With the stock head I had 147 psi in each hole cold engine compression. The gauge i use has been very accurate. In my 95xp I get 135/140 cold engine compression. I have had the same readings for 3 years on the 717 engine.

I found a box full of seadoo parts on CL. I ended up with a hood topper with a mint XP logo and handle bar covers in great shape.

At 170lbs you should be fine with hi octane pump gas. If you are turning a lot of rpms for long rides, you may want to use a race gas mix of 25-50% tho. I run 180lbs @ 7300-7500 rpms with a 25% mix of 110 race with no issues. However, I don't run wfo down the river at those rpms. My xp is set up for closed course, not a river runner.

Thanks for all the replies, I have stock exhaust system for now. My rpms shouldn't get over 7k. I beefed my xp up to run a Solas concord 15/23 impellar. So i upped the comp and installed 99spx 40/38i accelerator pump carbs with prox. Im.gonna tune this set up and see how I like that.
