    Help

    1996 Polaris SLT 750
    Hello Group,
Just joined and need your feedback re: 1996 Polaris SLT 750. Am looking at purchasing/repairing this PWC and only have this bit of info. to share. The PWC only has 29 hrs. on it. In 1997 @ 25 hrs. it started running rough so it was taken to shop under warranty. They repaired one cyl. which had a hole on the top of it. It was taken out to the lake the following month and ran but the RPMs just weren't there again. It was taken to another shop during that trip which also was a dealer and they refused to work on it. That is all the info. I have on it and it has been sitting ever since. Apparently there is no paperwork to verify all the above info. Battery gone and fuel needs to be drained for starters. Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks, Mark

    Welcome to the site.

    They didn't make a 750 in 1996. It's either a 94 or 95 SLT 750, or a 1996 SLT 780.

Holes in pistons are usually fuel supply problems, or an air leak.

How much are they asking for the ski?

Take a fully charged battery with you and get a compression reading on all 3 cyls. (hold the throttle wide open when testing)

What's the last 2 numbers listed on the Hull identification Number? That will be the year.

Are you sure it says 750 and not 780?

    Got a pic of it?

Good price. Trailer alone is worth $200-300

Need that compression reading though. You may end up sinking more $$ into it than you want.

After it's all said and done, you can have a good running ski for a decent price. Or you can buy a running ski for a little bit more to start with...
