    Exploring stand ups

I have been ripping it up hard on an ultra 250x for 5 years mostly ocean riding. I'd really like to pic up a second ski and was thinking about a stand up ski. I know a dealer in ocm that would prolly let me test a couple used ones. I'm about 5'10" 210 lbs with a more muscular build. I was wondering what direction to lean towards in stand up skis. The only stand up I ever rode was and OLD kawi 330 and it didn't have the snot for someone my size. I want used cause and not to spend to much I case stand ups aren't my thing. Any suggestions in skis?

Are you looking to spend a grand or 5 grand? Personally at your weight you can ride a Kawasaki 650 for dirt cheap but you will want to upgrade within a year or two. Sxr is a good ski and easy to ride IMO but depending on your riding style you might not like the smooth ride

Depends on how much money you are looking at spending also. You can pick up a good running kawasaki 750 for $1,500.00 all day long.

I was never a big fan of the 750 ride. I actually perfected the 650 handling wise. But the 750 is a great ski!

Thanks guys. Ill look into those two skis. I'd like to be at that 1,500 mark and don't mind wrenching a little. I like the new kawi sxr but I'd hate to spend 8g and not like it

Good used SXRs can be had for 4k, as for 750s, I would strongly suggest the SXI Pro ('98+) over the SX or SXI - the hull is significantly better handling - VERY worth the few hundred more over the others. This is coming from an owner of an SX, SXI Pro and two SXRs

Buy an old squarenose superjet, they handle way better than the kawis and there are a ton of aftermarket parts out there for them. I'm 6'2", 215 and my SN has enough power to haul me around. This time of year, you coul prolly find one with some goodies on it for 12-1500.

+1 on the SXI Pro. SXR is a great easy to ride stand-up but expensive. If you are not a big heavy guy and want to go cheap 650/550's are fun too.
