pop off is good but drops to zero immediately...

yamaha the pop off on both carbs set but immediately after it pops it falls to zero on the guage....thought i read somewhere that its supposed to hold steady and slowly drop...i bought new needles/seats and re used all other original parts as they cleaned up good.....put guage hose on fuel inlet and finger over return and every time after the pop it would immediately drop to zero....looked at new needle under magnification and its definately ring marks on it...any ideas

Thats what pop off means. it takes so much fuel pressure to open the needle seat. it should seal and begin to build pressure without dropping to 0 if you keep putting air to it.
