Float Jacket for PWC in cool weather

I am looking for something to keep me dry and warm while riding early/late in the season. I'd like it to be comfortable and easy to put on/take off. Hence, I'm not so sure a wet or dry suit is for me.

For riding in cool temps a float jacket and float pants seem like a good alternative. BUT, I am concerned if they are fully functional after impacting the water at PWC sppeds. In particular, will they survive the impact and keep an injured PWC rider face up. If not, is wearing a traditional life jacket underneath the float coat a viable approach?

My riding style will be such that I hope to never be in the water when riding in cool temps, but I sure as heck want the protection in case it is needed.

Do you use any floatation other than the float coat when wearing the float coat?

70 is cold? Thats nice and warm up here!

I wear a jetpilot tour coat over my lifejacket, it keeps me nice and warm on the ocean in the spring time where the water is about 55 and air is 65.

I have the Jet Pilot tour coat as well. Fits over the life jacket and makes things a little warmer. I have only used it twice though. You could also get a zip up wetsuit jacket.

Float Jacket for PWC in cool weather

Mustang survival jacket. If its good enough for the coastguard it's good enough for me.

Regularly do all day rides in the mid 30's to mid 40's with nothing but a sweatshirt underneath. Use a Klim snowmobile bib with built in thinsulate for the bottoms.

That's a nice jacket! One concern I have with a float jacket is if they will hold up to an at speed exit from the PWC to the water. BrianP's tour coat would seem to be less likely to handle the impact, but he has a life jacket underneath that supposedly would.

Snowmobile bib sounds warm! Klim is nice stuff!
