    Smile 03 GP1300R , noob

Hello Guys, ive been reading your forums for a while now, and ive taken the plunge and registered.

Im from sunny Cape Town, South Africa.e

I have recently purchased my second jetski, 2003 Yamaha GP1300R , with 35.9 hours. (Basically brand new and in mint condition).

I used to have a Seadoo GTS (718cc) 1998 model, which i had for 5 years.

So far my GPR is stock standard, maybe a little too stock for my liking.

I will use it 99% of the time on freshwater dams and rivers, which are mainly calm. However they can get very twisty and tight as they wind through the valleys. Roughness of the water on a very windy day are swells +/- 2 feet high.

Im looking to do a few mods.

What would you guys suggest ?

Ive read the post, thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know how i can tell if i need to do the 03 recall update to the jetski.

I checked it for cracks and didnt see any. What exactly must i change / replace, can you post pics or links.

I rekon im going to get a RIVA GP800R/1200R/1300R Performance Ride Plate , setup stepped sponsons and add wdier handle bars.

Then its time for serious mods. any advice ?

    more reading

you might take a close look at the various set-ups I suggest depending on what water conditions you ride in

the 1st mod should always be an intake grate (the stock grate is dangerous on a modded ski)

next get some replacement power valve arms (R&D or SBT)

next I would suggest an aftermarket impeller - I have a good used one for sale if you want to go that route

I always ride with the trim tabs shimmed down with a couple washers under all 8 bolts
