Nearly fell off my 05 RXT today, lanyard got unplugged but engine kept on running.

I have a problem with a 05 RXT where the engine wouldn’t shut off with the lanyard unplugged.
Once brought to shore, I pressed the stop button and thank god it worked but the display and normal beeps were still going. I had to disconnect the connector to cables going up to the Lanyard plug for everything to shut down.
Once I plug the connector together again, It acts like I have plugged in the lanyard but it won’t start.
Once the lanyard is plugged in then it starts as normal.

I have put in a new battery but no luck.

Thats great to know about a Sea Doo. A very common fault is the engine not shutting off when the lanyard is pulled? Seems like a pretty simple thing to get right.

It is not as common as it sounds. Yes it happens, but in the 300+ skis I have worked on 1 had this happen. I have heard of a hand full on this forum this has happened to. Yes it happens!

That sounds like it needs to be a recall,

Bryan I am talking about the bad dess post!It is very common for them to go bad and let the engine running without the key on the post.

I dont mean that it is common for a ski to run without a key on the post,if that is what you understand!!!

Its not common issue on a sea doo but is the common issue being the dess post with what he is describing.

    Are u lost?
Shouldn't you be in the Polaris 2 slow (smoke) section.

I've seen about 20% of the skis I get that have dess issues.
But I never had the not shutting off issue..
Most of the issues I've seen just make the digital displays keep cycling on and off without a key...
