    Question Bilge Pump LED Indicator

I've been pondering installing a small red LED indicator on my dash somewhere that tells me if/when my auto bilge pump is running. It works perfectly, just can't hear it when the engine is running, & can't see it when in the water since in the GPR the thru-hull is in the pump tunnel. Anyone else done this? Just curious where you mounted your LED. I ordered mine already, it's 100% waterproof, super bright LED, and flush mount.

I ordered the black with red LED one.

I will post pics once mine is installed, but didn't see anyone else with this mod and was curious if anyone had done it or even thought about doing it.

I really like those lights but I'm not sure why you would need it for the bilge pump. Isn't the pump running the whole time the ski is? I'd hook one up to a float to tell me when I'm sinking.

No, the pumps are not constantly running. Mine is on a float switch and only comes on when there is enough water to engage it.

looks like a nice touch to a nicer ski...dont laugh but on my old ski i added a rule 500 auto bilge pump and routed the discharge line up the side of the ski and angled it so if it should start pumping water out it hits ya right in the crotch....guaranteed to let ya know you are taking on water...even with a wetsuit on it is very noticable...saved me twice...be my luck i would get a bad LED and send her to the bottom without even knowing...i like the black one though

    great idea
if water is coming in it would be nice to know before its to late
would be nice to set it to turn on at a height that is not just cleaning up small splashes in the hull
i have seen 2 skis with bilge pumps fill up with water from the engine feed
and by the time you notice it is already half full

Great idea but I'm not a fan of those LEDs...

I have some APEM superbright ones that I think look way better..... Like these http://www.apem.com/Q14-v9-d-811.html

If anyone wants one I probably have some more
