    2005 RXT VTS install question

I'm going to put a vts on my 05 RXT, I've searched the threads looking for some information on which years & models will fit but haven't found that info. Can anyone help me out on this? I have a candoo box so I can activate the vts on the ski.

    1. Which years / models will fit
    2. Do I need the nozzle from an RXP or just the "ring" and mount it to nozzle
    3. Can I add just the vts button with the wire harness or do I need the whole harness including start/mode buttons

    Thanks for any help

I just finished doing my 05, not even sure if it's going to work right once the engine is running. The main problem I have is the VTS motor is at an angle because the pump is high almost even with the hole for the VTS. As far as the wiring goes that's the easy part. I got a complete nozzle from fleabay and didn't realize it didn't have the output for the opas, must have been out of an XP, I was able to move the ring and make it work. I'll try post some pics of my mess tomorrow

EB87 I've just bought pretty much everthing I need on "fleabay". As far as the nozzle, I bought just the steering nozzle for an RXP, I hope I didn't screw up and needed the whole pump nozzle as well. I added Riva thru hull exhaust so my opas is gone anyway. My son the wireing guru is going to wire this into the ski and activate it with the Candoo box.

Gus13 yea I'd say this helps, wow talk about simplfying it. Great information

    Thanks everyone for your help

glad to help. I did several how to threads back in the day since I was really the only one at the time taking the RXT to the limit. You will absolutely love the VTS. Best mod! Good luck with it.

The main issue I have is the VTS being at an angle, but since Gus has the same issue and his works I'll make the assumption mine will too. As far as the wiring, I added the wires needed to my harness without relocating anything. My goal was to look and function 100% as if it was factory installed. There's only 2 additional wires needed from the MPEM to the steering harness and just like in the RXP I changed the 4 pin Deutsch connector to a 6 pin and added the VTS button. For the wiring to the VTS there are only 7 wires with a Packard style connector which are cheap enough put all the wires inside the factory conduit The hole for the VTS is exactly 1 1/8 inch and I used the rod from a DI and works perfect without having to cut anything.

Looks good! Yes, it sits at a slight angle, but no big deal. Enjoy it. I sure did!

eb87 thats pretty much what I (actually my son) was going to do is add the wires to the harness instaed of peplacing the entire harness. This is great these pictures are worth a thousand words, I can't thank you guys enough for all your help on this. And I will hunt down one of these DI rods.
    Thanks again

eb87 I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

    1. Did you use the stainless bracket that mounts on the bottom of the vts and would screw into the hull. I have a thru hull exhaust and not sure if I could get that bracket in without modifying it

    2. Is that gauge cluster in your pictures from an RXP or RXT.

    Thanks
