Top end replacement / 97 gp 1200
Wheres the best place to get a good top end kit for a 97 GP1200? ( stock bore )
Gonna be a stock ski, trying to keep the price down, but dont want junk either.
Also, top end kits usually have all the gaskets and what not with them, correct?
What else is needed, engine is completely in pieces.
Gonna need 1 new sleeve too, anyone got 1 for sale? ( stock bore )

Anyone have a good guide to re assembling the 65u engine from the bottom up? Any advice etc?

I used the service manual and the usual advise posted here as a guide. Use OEM crank seals, marine grease the seals, use a small amount of 1211 on the crankcase halves, use oem base gasket and head gasket with a light coat of marine grease, use the correct thread sealer and thread locker (you need the white paste sealer/thread locker, blue loctite, and red locite), in the correct locations as indicated in the service manual, and follow the correct torque specs.
If you get stuck at some point, search for the answer here and then ask questions if needed.

Thanks Cutlass, for the reply.
I found this for $265.00 - Good price, parts, etc ?
Like I said, its a stock ski and will stay all stock and is my "guest" ski, so Im not worried so much about super fast or whatever, but dont want junk parts that'll be tearing up fast either.....
Kit includes: (3) WSM Piston Kits (Piston, Rings, Wrist Pin, Circlips), (1) Winderosa 'Made in USA' Top End Gasket Set (all gaskets needed to replace cylinders/pistons).

If you need a Jug then you will need machine shop work, as they get installed then final bored to size.

Im guessing all I need is the sleeve to drop in. Ive done this on the other engine ti did the top end on, so I should need anything else, correct?
( other the the sleeve, which are going to be stock with stock size pistons )

You're going to need crank seals, they won't be in a top end kit.

Might consider parting out the engine and trying to buy another some where ( with out core )
I have no clue what prices should be for the parts I have - as far as the engine with no attachments ( carbs etc )
I've got everything but the 3 pistons - in GREAT shape. :-/ Any ideas ?

Research the ads on here and eBay. That'll give you an idea what to ask for each part. Price stuff under the average if you want to sell stuff quicker.
