2005 wake edition (155 no mods) top speed/rpm?

Just purchased a 2005 Wake Edition 155 with 64 hours, no mods. What is the expected top speed/RPM. It had been sitting for a full season without use. During the test run it topped out at 50 mph @ 7300 RPM.

    - While at idle in the water it the idle was not steady, it surged about 300 rpm steadly, strong enough to feel it, is this normal? When started on the trailor rpm is steady until I turn the hose on, then it starts surging again.

    - Not sure what to think about the OPAS, felt like one paddle/rudder was sticking in the down position intermittantly. It had several uncommanded turns (steering nozzle linkage has no play). Made steering squirly and unpredictable. I have had several other jet skies and have never had one that was squirly (never had one with OPAS either).

Pump the old fuel. Don't run it thru the ski. It can clog an Injector and burn up a piston.
With a fresh tank of fuel and new spark plugs it will run better.
Also add a double dose of fuel injection cleaner.
I use Lucas fuel Injector cleaner with upper cylinder lubricant in it.
Opas takes some getting used to.

On really flat water, sometimes there isn't enough water pressure to keep the OPAS up, out of the water at higher speeds I've noticed. I have since gotten rid of mine when my ski suddenly veered what felt like 90 degrees left on a dead flat water riding at 65 mph. Thank god I was riding on the left-hand side of the group and the edge of the channel was far away.

The RPM is correct at 7300, the speed varies on weight and displacement.
    50-55 is OK at 200lbs

$3700: Good condition, has been beached a few times so needs a little hull touch up. No sun fade at all. I know it is made for towing, it is a LOT slower than my Polaris MSX-140.

First time I rode an OPAS equipped ski, I thought something was wrong too! Seriously.

Thanks for the advice. New plugs, fresh gas, oil change and a good cleaning. Had it out today (was actually 78 degrees today in Jax Fl) and it ran great. Still has a top end of about 50-52. Idles great now. Still hate the OPAS. Too much work compared to my MSX 140.
