Do I need a different spacer for my new FZS Impeller?

I'm putting a refurbished Impros impeller (P/N 6S5-R1321-04-00) on my '09 FZS. There is a spacer behind it (P/N 6S5-R1348-00-00 according to the OE parts diagram). I also have a '12 FZR and I happened to notice that the spacer P/N is 6BH-51348-01-00 and there's an o-ring installed next to it (P/N 93210-30611-00). The configuration of my original impeller and the refurbished one look and measure the same in the threaded area. Does anybody know why there's a difference and if I need to use the parts specified for the '12 model?

There was an issue with the OEM spacer and Yamaha released an updated spacer that was both harder and a little bit thicker (if I remember right..). On an 09, you're ok w/ the stock spacer, but if you haven't already done the swap. go with the the washer west references.

Westy-That's exactly the information I needed. Thanks.

Kelly-I agree that the spacer that came with the boat will work. I am just curious about the changes that were made from the '09 to '11 models. In '10 the impeller and spacer part numbers changed and in '11 the spacer P/N changed and an o-ring was added.
