    Top-end re-build on a 1200....where do I get parts?

Hey guys, I have a very mechanically inclined friend who I am going to hire to re-build my 2002 1200 with 110 hours. I might just go with rings etc... but may also do more extensive work.

Is SBT the standard place for parts with these?

Short answer is no. OEM parts are much better quality and go a long way in a GPR.

You can find OEM parts online right here on Greenhulk at the top of the page. I would recommend trolling the classifieds here on this forum first as you can always score great deals from very reputable members.

I wouldn't use anything sbt. Cheap for a reason. Go oem and prox or oem pistons. Rik rings.

    Thanks!

Slightly off topic, but can you install a priming bulb on these things like you have on an outboard motor?

I don't think you want to do that. They make primer kits that squirt fuel directly into the carb throats. On my machines, I have found that the choke system works just fine, unless you want to run a highly modified motor.

Go OEM and get them here on GH.

Make sure you use new gaskets and don't re-use the old ones. Have your friend use a Yamaha specific model manual and torque according to specs, follow the manual to a "T" and you will be fine.
