300x Stock Ride Plate almost fell off!

It was like riding a Yamaha. I almost got bucked off.

Of the eight bolts, I lost five?!?!?!?! Only three on one side were left!

The weird thing was that when I checked them a couple of weeks ago they were loose. I pulled them all out, added some Low Strength Loctite and put them all back in.

Something is not right. They somehow worked their way loose again (Maybe only 3-4 hours of riding too).

Has this happened to anyone else?

Go check your ride plate bolts before you take your ski out again.

    Cheers, Mal.

I personally use silicone. On ride plate bolts and red lock on intake bolts. Also put silicone around plate and grate. As well as over the bolt heads. Little dab will do ya.

Yeah Kawasaki torque specs are strangely low for these bolts 69ins (5 3/4lbs)...7-8 lbs would be right...

Did you follow exact torque specs...or a normal few pounds over?

I like filling those bottom bolt holes with filler epoxy.. not just for that 2/10ths faster but the chance of them back out..JMHO

I use rtv on mine, anything under the bond rail gets it.

Haha, yeah Jimmy, instead of 8 Nm it would be 40 Nm. They would never fall off.

I probably did them up more than 8 Nm.

Tommy, I've used silicon (Sika-Flex) too but because I knew I'd be removing it again soon I only used Low Strength Loctite.

I've just picked up some mid strength Loctite, hopefully that will work. I'll also get a dude to put it on rather than that big blonde chic

    Cheers.

Yeah, I know the feeling, lost 5 bolts once and ski started hooking hard left. Took me a while to figure out why. Didnt get thrown off but did hyperextend elbow. Dont you and Jimmie do a 27 point inspection before and after every ride? I thought thats what you guys were doing in that early video. Check ride plate bolts, # 13.
