# Thread: Economic Impact Of a Few Jet Ski's Over 3 Days.

1. ## Economic Impact Of a Few Jet Ski's Over 3 Days.

Food For Thought Here..

Will Morgan City be happy to have us all back in town???????

__________________________________________________ ______________

Here is something to think about ......................the ECONOMIC IMPACT

For example...say 250 ski's come (that's roughly 300 people including children). Everyone will need to eat for 2 days.

Say everyone eats at the hotel for breakfast for 2 days but then buys lunch and dinner elsewhere. Lets say that they spend 20 bucks a head between lunch and dinner for 3 days.

20 bucks X 300 People = 6,000.00 bucks

Times 3 days = 18,000.00 bucks on food/beverage alone.

Hotel Rooms = Lets say 200 rooms are taken for three nights (some will stay with others in the same room) at 60 bucks a room....

200 X 60 = 12,000.00 Bucks per night

Times 3 Nights (Thurs/Fri/Sat) = 36,000.00 bucks in hotel revenue alone.

Now for another big number...GASOLINE for ski's & vehichles!!!

lets say 250 ski's come and all have an average tank capacity of 12 gallons just for example's sake. Each of those ski's will burn at least 3 tanks of fuel while in Morgan City.

So 250 X 12 Gallons = 3000 Gallons X 3 Fills = 9,000 Gallons of Fuel.

I think its safe to say that 80% of that 9,000 gallon figure is going to be 93 Octane.
So 7,200 gallons of 93 octane at say 2.25/ gallon = 16,200.00 bucks in 93oct.
Rest of the 1,800 gallons for stock skis @ say 2.05/gallon = 3,690.00 bucks in 87oct.

Now lets say there is 180 vehichles that show up and fill their tanks up only one time (either while in town or on their way home Sunday). Most will be trucks and most will be 87 octane. But lets say each truck has an 18 gallon tank (some will be less and some will be more). Lets just use 18.

180 Vehichles Fill up with 18 gallons only once while in town = 3,240 gallons

3,240 Gallons of 87 octane at say 2.05/gallon = 6,642.00 Bucks for vehichle Gas

Now for the alcohol: Lord i have no idea what people wll spend on this. Lets say 50 people drink at least a 6-pack each day (very conservative number too). A six pack in Morgan City may cost lets say 6.00 dollars.

50 x 6.00 = 300.00 bucks X 3 days = 900.00 Bucks in Beer.

Lets say only 25 people buy a fith of whisky or something similar at 30 bucks a pop during the entire stay.

25 x 30.00 = 750.00 Bucks In Liquor

So total truck / car gas fills = 6,642.00
Total PWC Gas Fills = 19,890.00
Total Hotel Revenue = 36,000.00
Food / Beverage = 18,000.00
Beer Alone = 900.00
Liquor Alone = 750.00

Grand Total = 82,182 Average Economic Impact In Morgan City. We could probably just say 100,000 dollar impact because i used very conservative numbers and more people may show up than the figures that i used too.

So.............Yes i think Morgan City will be happy to have us all back in town for a few days!!!

2. John, where do you find the hours in the day to do all of these extracaricular activities??

Between work, wife, 8 month old baby, Project ski, and house work, I hardly have time to do anything.

3. Hey Abbott:
Something didn't look right, you have 1 too many zeros on the Hotel number, should be \$36,000.00, not \$360,000.00. but the group rate is \$75.00, not \$60.00
so 200 rooms x \$75.00/night x 3 nights = \$45,000.00
and don't forget the 10% for local hotel tax: \$4500.00
JP

4. heh. wish you were doing my paychecks.

5. 50 x 6.00 = 300.00 bucks X 3 days = 900.00 Bucks in Beer.

John thats a low number heck Barry spent that much on beer him self while there, Ha, Ha, Ha

6. Yeah, these little gatherings like Mudbug and Norris have a huge bump in income. We did similar math at Norris last year and were having a huge impact, especially seeing it was off season still. Every time a batch of 20 skis on a cruise pulled into a marina, it was about a \$1000 impact between fuel and snacks. We emptied one places tank, LOL!

7. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...................oops i have a small calculator. Guess my fingers are too big and i got carried away. I will fix that!!!

8. I've been to 1 night house parties that spent more than \$900 in alcohol. you can at least multiply that x4 and still probably be conservative.
Also keep in mind the fuel prices are always higher in the summer. I would guess \$3 min for 93 oct in june. At any rate your right. Nice boost in economy for what I gather is a small town.

9. And after everyone gives me a dollar each...

10. You know, someone might want to let the hot spots for gas and food know whats about to happen. I went to a flat bottom event once and the local pump ran out of fule!!
