DIY sponsons have been around since the 90's using everything from kitchen cutting boards to hi density plastic. Just remember if you make some sponsons to use a good backing plate on the inside of the hull to prevent damage. Bulk sheets are available these days in various thickness and polymers.

You have to get the following right...

    - material grade...
    - spacing and mounting position...
    - angle mounted on the hull...
    - blade size...

I went through 3 sets before I got a set that worked on my old GSX hull....
