RXP trouble on the water
I just summarized the boat yesterday and decided to take it for a spin with all the new parts. I cranked it while it was on the trailer for a few seconds and it all seemed to run just fine. New exhasut sounds great and nice response on the throttle. Unloaded the ski and lightly cruised around a bit in the bay to make sure i wasnt taking any water on and that everything was A OK. No lights came on, boat was warmed up, and everything seemed to be fine so i decided to to give it WOT. As soon as i nailed it it started to pick up the revs a bit but i felt very minimal thrust. On top of that it wouldnt go past 6000 RPM. It would just sit at 6k flat on its face going absolutely no where and as soon as i let out of the throttle i would hear a slight chirp. Almost BOV sounding but im not running one. My first thoughts are maybe its cavitating because of the SRX impeller im running (i was told that it might be an issue). If it was cavitation than isnt it supposed to bounce off the limiter and not sit at 6k?
any insight from you guys is much appreciated

There was another recent thread similar to this issue...vacuum leak was the consensus

SC is slipping.

I inspected the engine bay a bit while it was runnin and for the most part from what i could tell the vacuum lines looked alright and i couldnt really hear any air escaping either (then again my exhaust is kinda loud). Ill make sure and check real closely.

If you cannot get past 6000 rpm, then most likely your charger is slipping. Boost kicks in at 6000 rpm.
Who settup the SC? How many hrs on the SC?

check the scer slip or a boost leak in the mani.. if you had a external IC id say go over your clamps and check for a boost leak but its sure sounds like that charger ... was it new?

The SC was set up by a friend at RMS (richardson motor sports). The gen 2 impeller was installed last summer and it was fine the rest of the season. I winterized it in october and it sat for a while then last month i threw it in the shop to throw the stage 2 on it, winterized it this week, and bam now it has this problem. I bought the boat used with 27 Hours and now its sittin at 47 Hours.
thanks again for all the feedback you guys

So it sounds like you have about 10hrs or so on the new charger. I know alot of people recomend pulling a charger a few hrs after it was setup and adjusting the slip, kinda like a breakin. The clutches usually hold well after the adjustment. I have never winterized any of my skis, so maybe from the ski sitting could have something to do with it also.
