Opinions.. Looking at 2006 F150 Supercrew Questions

Lookin at a 2006 F150 Supercrew King Ranch with like 169k miles. I know this is sort of high.. i sold my 7.3l lifted diesel. I want something for just a couple years thats why im looking at this with higher miles. Im wondering what to look for when I check it out or if I should be concerned with that many miles on it. I havent seen it in person going tomorrow. But it is 3 grand under nada value.. which the guy says he has kids and too many vehicles and reduced priced everything works as it should.

They are good trucks. The only problem I had with my 2004 F-150 5.4L V8, was spark plugs and coils. Had the plugs changed at 100k, (part of the 100k service). At 160K it started missing under a steady load in overdrive, plugs changed again and 2 coils. I sold it at 185K to my buddy and he has changed all the coils and plugs, and all new front end parts. The plugs on the 5.4L are known to break when you try to remove them.

With 169K on the truck I suspect the ball joints and other front end parts need to be changed, and the plugs may need to be changed again.

The plugs suck on these trucks so do the coils, but they are pretty solid even high mileage. Check it over well though 3k is a lot to be under.

I'd be alittle weary of the tranny as well. There's alot of people that have issues with them around 75-80k. I love my 06 FX4, but it's only got 44k

Sold my navigator with the 5.4L at 265k..
Great truck but it was a fuel addict...
When gas hit $4 I sold it for a tundra.

Reverse started slipping on mine at 119k. Seems like any transmission in a halfton truck that gets used to tow, you can expect some issues around 100k, no matter who the manufacturer is.
