top end rebuild/carb rebuild on gp1200...need advice

Figured out my wife's ski needs a top end done on it, I figure I'm just goin to buy stocks piston top end kit, Im also goin to rebuild the carbs while I'm at it, an take out the oil pump to go premix, my question is after rebuilding topend an carbs is there anything I need to worry about as far as popoff or jetting etc...? Also doin a oil block off to go to premix how will that effect the ski and what mixture should I run...thanks

Rebuild carbs with genuine Mikuni kits. See How-To section for details on pop-off, etc.
Most probably run 40:1 premix using standard oils. Amsoil guys may run different ratio.
Everything you need to know is already here, may just take a while to find it.

After rebuilding carbs,do you need to have carbs installed to check popoff..?

No, you check pop-off on the workbench with the regulator diaphragm cover off. There are instructions somewhere here and there are some YouTube videos showing it being done.

You can run a good synthetic Amsoil or Yamalube 40 to 1 when you go pre-mix. Locate a good location for the primer plunger (old oil fill cap location) and make sure the lines are the correct way to your carbs...you can connect them to the old oil injection lines on the carbs with plastic tees running them. Keep the same springs, N/S and jets when you go to pre-mix. You add an 1/8 of a turn on the Pilots and High speed screws. Break-in with the same amount of oil in pre-mix as you run normally, 40 to 1...run the engine about 5-10 minutes on the hose after re-build, on the trailer and then go run it in the water like you stole something! Make sure you're not lean...but run it WOT in bursts and this gets the rings to seat quickly.

Not sure what aftermarket F/A (air cleaner) you are going to run, but the single plenum R&D is the absolute best. Period. If you can still find one.

You're thinking GPR. On the GP, the best spot for the primer is the old choke cable hole.
