Thread: Fuel

    Fuel

Just purchased a 2013 Sea Doo RXP X 260. It calls for 91 octane fuel but you can use 87 octane. Just wondering if anybody has tried the 87 and what there thoughts and comments are.

Provided that you only use ECO mode or run the learning key and you have dialed in the AFRs to run a more reasonable set of AFR targets than what the factory uses, you should be good to go.

I would never consider putting the bike up on boost with 87 octane.

why buy a 260hp ski and run fuel good for only about 200hp
the ecu will see all the knock and retard the timing to keep you from distroying the motor

if it calls for 91 then run 91.i had a 94 vette that called for 91 and my cheap ass put in 87 and it ran like shit until i put 91 in it.for the extra money it is better to be safe then sorry.i sold two skis to a guy and told him to run 91 and he said he would.a week later i seen him filling up with 87.he gets free 87 gas.he ran them all summer on 87.i have seen alot of machines that call for 91 but will run on 87 but how good are they running.run 91 and you do not have to wonder why your ski runs like shit.thanx richard.

It recommends 91, but can run on 87. I had to put 87 in my ski once and 89 once. It was mixed with half 91. We were riding in a place that did not have anything better. So we topped off with lower fuel quality to be able to make it back home. I did not run it in ECO mode. I did not run it over 60 mph. The ski ran fine with no problems. So if you need to squirt some 87 in there...she can take it like a champ if needed. Just like Kate Upton.

Add a can of Klotz or Torco and 87 isn't too bad
