Thats a very interesting Idea, thanks for sharing the article! It'd be awesome if they brought back the much lighter hulls along with the 2-strokes. Maybe something like the old XP's? Those arent very family friendly though haha.

yamaha already has a low cost two stroke vx in production with a 701 carburated two stroke....... could be the low cost entry waverunner of the future. this might show up in portuguese and you will have to translate to english

I have often wondered why the manufacturers abandoned the direct injected 2 strokes. They are still widely used in outboards. I think it would be a great way to possibly keep the cost of some models lower.

i still think they would get way more new customers and new sales with the 2.0L 4-tec and it would be mega reliable on low boost making plenty of power

    REALLY???????

How many people would buy a new ski if they could have one for 6500 bucks as opposed to buying one for almost double that. Not everyone out there is a performance junky like most on here are. I think a new machine at that price point would knock it out of the park!!!!!! 150 HP in a smaller hull would be plenty of fun. I still think with the abuse these motors can take, from things like water ingestion, a 2 stroke is still a better choice for the person who may subject their machine to some abuse.

I wouldn't call 150 HP a slow ski. With that HP the ski would be capable of 60 MPH I am pretty sure. Would probably be similar in size to a VXR, and with a 2 stroke probably lighter. You have to remember, most of the members of this site are out for performance. There is a huge segment of the market that is not us. I would think that just about everyone who is interested in high performance PWC is a member here. I am sure there are a large number of people kept out of this sport/hobby just because of the cost of a new machine. At 6500 bucks, I bet a lot of people would be buying watercraft that aren't right now.

60mph is slow to me not to mention the fact how long would it take to get to 60mph.... id gladly pay double for 2.0L seadoo which is why i still havent bought another new ski yet, why get another ski with the same old 3cyl esp since the newer ones have much less onboard storage
