    'Cheap' 80 mph RXP

I posted this on a Yami thread, thought I better put it over here too.

There are more parts for the RXP all the time. Using strictly new parts, I think there are a couple ways to get the RXP very close to 80 mph (or over) with $3000 - $5000 in parts, using an untouched long block and the stock ECU. I think we will see a few setup like this sometime this summer. Setups like this will help keep the modded RXP cost-competitive with a modded GPR.

    Option one
Free mods, Fill in ride plate holes, no impeller cone
Riva Stg 2 or equivalent = 75 mph
    Adj venturi nozzle, 81mm = 76 mph
    Better SC impeller & 42lb injectors = 77 mph
Good rear air intake = 78 mph
    New 15/19 3 blade = 79 -80 mph

    Option two
    Free mods, stock Supercharger
    Riva Stg 2 = 75 mph
    Adj nozzle = 76 mph
Good rear air intake = 77 mph
    JD1's ride plate & open loop cooling = 80 - 81 mph
    15/19 3 blade = 81 - 82 mph

(JD1's rideplate is not available for sale yet, but he has seen good gains in testing, 4 mph gain. The 15/19 3 blade has added 2 mph over the 15/20 4 blade on Stg 3 skis, results on Stg 2 skis not sure yet.)

The money breaks out this way:
    Clutch washers - $100
Good intercooler - $250 (XS) to $1400 (Riva), others in between too
    Riva grate - $130
    RE blockoffs - $300
    Riva wedge - $100
    4" rear air intake - $150(DIY) -$400(Riva)
    Thru hull exhaust - $250
    15/19 3 blade - $320
    Adj nozzle - $325
    SC impeller - $500 (RR) - $750(Riva S3)
    42 lb injectors - $300
    JD1 ride plate and open loop - $700 - $1000 ? (Cost? I have no idea )

Just my take on new and cheaper ways to get the RXP to the 80 mph range rather than with a more expensive Stage 3 type setup.

MrRacing, have you run a 15/19 on a stock ECU RXP? On the stage 3 machines, a 15/19 3 blade had to have 1 mm added to the trailing edge to EQUAL the rpms of a 15/20 4 blade that had 2 mm taken out of the trailing edge ... that means the 15/19 in stock form appears to be easier to turn than a stock 15/20 4 blade. With some massaging, I think stage 2 setups should be able to spin this prop. If you have some direct testing results to share though, feel free to fill us in ...

I might be proved wrong, but I think we will see a few stock ECU RXPs hit 80 mph this summer (or very close) .... but that is just my opinion, and I don't expect most people to believe it until it happens either ...

80 with a stock ECU will happen this summer. I was very close before i gave into my addiction and threw a RR ECU on Carey's ski

I have put a 15/19 3 blade with my tweak on a customers ski with a Riva stage 1 kit and he is running high 72's. If i remember correctly i took 1.5 mm pitch out of the trailing edge.

    i agree!!

    80 mph stock ECU RXPs

    85 mph NON-EMS RXPs

don't let them nay-sayers discourage you, just wave at them when you are right next to them doing 80 mph for a few thousand bucks less

So it's basically a 15/18 but with a steeper root? How well did that stage 1 pull out of the hole? I know my stage 2 will spin the schit out of the 13/18.5 (8100 from the hole & 8200 top end) but the 13.5/19 seemed to be a bit much. Maybe the slight chop I was riding in never gave the prop a chance to shine?

Does my prop need to be tweaked because I have a stg 1 + freebies, and I'm only turning 7800-7900 r's, every now and then I see 8000.
