Newbie Help Question! 2004 Sea doo GTX 4 tec 2 stroke confusion

    Hey guys,

First off I'm very happy to have found this forum! So much great help on here!
    My first post.
I'm looking into buying a 2004 GTX 2 stroke.....Can you guys please educate me on the 2 stroke model vs. the 4 stroke model. What are some things to look for on the unit, some things to watch out for?
What are the goods and bads of the 2 stroke vs. the 4 stroke?

Also what would you guys think market value would be for a 2004 Gtx with a trailer?

Your help and input is well appreciated! Thank you.

The 4 tec is a 4 stroke. The gtx in 2004 were all 4 stroke. In theory, the 4 stroke will run longer with less maintenance, but when it does need repairs will be costly. The 2 stroke is lighter, and will require more frequent work, but are much easier and cheaper to fix.

What year was the GTX made in 2 stroke? After 2004 ? Or before?
    Thanks!

The last 2 stroke carbureted GTX was made in 2002. The last fuel injected (DI) 2 stroke GTX was made in 2003.

They had 2 strokes in other models until later (GTI until 2005, and 3D until 2007)

I should point out that the fuel injected GTX DI models made in 2002 and 2003 were the new large body hulls, same as used in the 4TEC versions. These are slow turds, too much hull for the engine. The 2002 carb and all 2001 models and earlier have the smaller body and are much better matched to the engine.

What he said. You're better off with a 4 stroke now-a-days.
