    New 2012 RXP X Owner

    Hey,

I just bought a new (6 hours, demo model) 2012 RXP X. I picked it up yesterday and do not know too much about the Sea Doos. I am very expierenced in general with skis and ride about about 100 hours a year with my Hondas now. What do I need to know? We ride about 75% freshwater and also ride a good bit of long rivers with no fuel stops for ~60-80 miles. Can I do any mods and still have the ability to run 87 Oct in a pinch? Sometimes we can only get 87 or 89 on the rivers.

    Thanks

    Thomas James

need to run 91 oct. or better for the best performance and if you do mods run only 91 oct. the rxpx 260 is a great ride take it easy at first get use to it ,with just 6 hrs. on it you are still in break-in mode if you like long runs might want to put the factory cruise control kit pt.#295100455, did on mine it's great . buy a factory service manual and DIY , be careful of the reverse when backing up you have to steer the right to go left and so on

I was thinking about adding the depth finder if possible and maybe crusie control. How hard are these to add?

not sure if depth finder can be added but the cruise control kit comes with instruction to install if you know your way around ski's it is not to bad but if you do'nt get the dealer to install ,alot of routing wires installing ends plugging in to the right spot, you have to remove the gauge cluster and disassemble the throttle handle , the rest of the work is at the fuse box

The RXP-X is a fun ride. The hull is great for cornering but I have found and I think most people have, that it will want to pick a side to lean on below 30 mph or so. Not a big deal just different. While Seadoo reccommends 91 octane for the SC engines you can run 87 or 89 octane without damaging the ski. You just won't have the same performance. The cruise/slow mode is great especially in no wake zones. Familiarize yourself thoroughly with the functions of the ski. For example, most people think they have to "wake up" the ski and hear 2 beeps before they can start it. As long as you have put the key on the DESS post correctly you can just hold the start button and she will start right up. Other guys here can give you advice on mods. Enjoy.

Try again. Works just fine on my wife's 2012 GTR as well as '12 models that several other firends have. Make sure the key is on properly and then hold down the start button.
