what metals are in the motor?
i know the engine block is aluminium but does anyone know what else is mixed in to that aluminium when its being molded? need to get the welder fired up and wondering what kind of filler would be best to use but dont know what kind of other metals could be in there.
not sure if anyone knows but thought id ask

It's just cast aluminum and is fairly pure. My buddy welds up my damaged parts with a regular old TIG and aluminum filler rod. I always clean the area thoroughly and sandblast around the damage. Then I use a propane torch to sweat the area to get the remaining oil out. Spray down with brake cleaner, wait til everythings dry, sweat again, spray down again. Ready to weld.
